The Experience
It’s all about balance. Study with us at Cambridge and we’ll help you embrace everything the city has to offer – from socialising with new friends with shared interests to field trips and excursions for practical lessons you just can’t learn from a textbook. We understand students. We make sure you’re stimulated with a social calendar that packs it all in, from traditional guided tours of the University museums to a tranquil afternoon punting on the River Cam.
And of course, you’ll experience the true Cambridge way of life from weekly formal dinners to competitive debating and croquet. Remember to save some energy for dancing the night away at a disco!
13-15 years old
If you’re 13-15, you’ll be in small classes, with no more than 8 students. Learning in a small group means that you get quality time with your teacher and ask as many questions as you like! Through interactive learning, our teachers will guide you through new concepts and assign you practice tasks to build your knowledge and skills. Fancy a stay in the college that inspired six Nobel Prize winners? If you’re one of our early teen students, you’re already in. Our 13-15 year old students will stay at Fitzwilliam College, a modern, safe site, centered around a beautiful Grade II regency manor house owned by the Darwin family. Only a stone’s throw from the centre of Cambridge city, this internationally diverse college was founded in 1869 and has educated brilliant minds such as economist Josef Stiglitz and the first Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew. It’s the ideal base for expanding your mind and enhancing your studies this summer.
16-17 years old
If you’re 16-17, you will be learning in tutorials, just as university students do. Your tutor will foster self- directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups. You will be guided by questions and examples from your tutor and encouraged to ask questions as well. During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate. Tutorials provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. Follow in Oliver Cromwell’s footsteps and reside in the marvelous Sidney Sussex College. This ancient, beautiful building was founded in 1595 on the site of a Franciscan friary and was home to many of the mathematicians responsible for the code-breaking triumphs of Bletchley Park during World War II. And it can be your home too – if you’re aged 16-17 and study with us here in Cambridge.
